Markus Neal Humby - Original Fine Art - Illustrations - Commissions

Markus Neal Humby is a Canadian artist based in Hamilton, Ontario, whose practice spans drawing, illustration, watercolour, painting, and sculpture. Educated at York University, The New School of Art, and Mohawk College, he began his career in commercial art and illustration before dedicating himself fully to fine art in 2018.

Grounded in realistic and representational techniques, his work explores portraiture, figures in their environments, landscapes, and commissions, while being continually shaped by moments of insight inspired by the people, places, and experiences of daily life—an intuitive process that often unfolds through a focused creative flow where new ideas and directions naturally emerge.

“My inspiration to create usually arrives with a new insight. It may be an entirely new passion celebrating the time, place and people I am exposed to or the continuation of a theme I am already exploring. There is a flow state when painting where time does not seem to exist, where I am so totally absorbed in the process that I feel I am in a state of elevated existence.
